Why is the wind direction different from my local weather app?
kiteToday combines multiple weather models to produce a consensus forecast. When the underlying models disagree, the confidence level (HIGH, MEDIUM, LOW) reflects that uncertainty. Individual weather apps typically rely on a single model, which may differ from our consensus value.
Why is a spot showing CAUTION when conditions look fine?
Each spot has its own configured rules — wind speed limits, gust thresholds, and forbidden wind directions specific to that location. CAUTION usually indicates a cross-shore wind component, elevated gusts, or wind below the ideal range for that spot. Tap the spot to see the specific reason codes.
Are kite size recommendations accurate for my discipline?
Kite size recommendations are calibrated for twintip kiteboarding. Foilboarders, surfboarders, and other disciplines should treat the sizes as indicative and apply their own experience.
Why does my favorite spot show NO GO at night?
kiteToday treats all spots as NO GO between sunset and sunrise. This is a safety constraint, not a forecasting issue.
How often is the data updated?
Live conditions and forecasts are refreshed every hour. The "UPDATED Xm ago" label in the corner of the map shows how recent the current data is.
Can I request a new spot?
Yes — send the spot name, coordinates, and your typical wind expectations to the email above and it will be added in a future update.
Is kiteToday available on Android?
Not yet. An Android version is being considered for a future release.
